Modem Adsl Ethernet Can I Use A Separate (Ethernet) ADSL Modem With My Linksys WAG54G (V2) Router? If So, How?

Can I use a separate (Ethernet) ADSL modem with my Linksys WAG54G (V2) router? If so, how? - modem adsl ethernet

I ask because I think moving to a DSL connection, 16 MB, but the integrated DSL router can handle only 8 MB. The ISP provides an Ethernet modem, just as (if you configure), the WAG54G re-route Internet traffic through the modem?

Thanks in advance ...

I think that is possible.

Go to http://192.168.1.1 to open to the configuration page WAG54G's. (By default, no user name is even though my router is "admin"), and the password is "admin" if you have changed. If you can not access, set the device to factory settings by pressing the tip for 12 seconds, the reset button on the back of the camera.

Click on the dynamic routing. Force used as a gateway router. There may be other options that you need to change, and I suggest you go to the support page from Linksys if you can not connect (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/ satellite ...

Be sure to ask your ISP, you need a DSL modem does not function as a router, or you will have conflict with the router. If this is not possible to ask how to disable the routing function.

It is likely that the WAG54G will offer more choice and better configuration interface of your modem. Retain in general, a similar or 2Wire modem / router, and configuration capabilities are less uncomfortable with inteCRA, so they prefer to keep the WAG545G router (otherwise we would configure it as a bridge, instead).

Hope this helps.
